About Promotion Area Additive Manufacturing

Additive Manufacturing is transforming industry from design and conceptualization, material requirements and advanced production methods to new user applications. In order to utilize the full potential of AM, international collaboration and market oriented research are required.

Sweden and Switzerland both have a tradition of innovative, world leading companies within the field of manufacturing. Both countries also harbour suppliers and developers of suitable raw materials as well as leading research institutions and university faculties in the area. Hence, Additive Manufacturing is one promotion area of the Swiss-Swedish Innovation Initiative.

Following sub topics within Additive Manufacturing are prioritized:

  • Metal powder development for additive manufacturing
    • Powder manufacturing alloys
    • materials characterization
    • standardization
  • Pre-process, process and post process development
    • Design and tooling,
    • Tailored microstructures
    • Process/quality control
    • Post processing
  • Geometry and design optimization
    • Density,structure and surface texture
    • design methods including rules, standards, software support, sustainable design
    • software design for integration into current production lines
